The Heart of a
Warrior
May 27, 2002
Are you facing hardship today? If so, remember:
The heart of a warrior isn't destroyed by adversity, it's
strengthened. That means all the hardship you've suffered will
make you stronger, not weaker. It means--if you've suffered--or
are suffering, God is molding you into a Mighty Man of faith.
Examples fill the pages of the bible:
Moses suffered in the wilderness.
Joseph suffered in an Egyptian prison.
Elijah was hunted by an evil king and queen.
Daniel was thrown into a lion's den.
Jesus was crucified.
Paul was persecuted.
The list of biblical warriors goes on and on and
on. God used suffering to strengthen them all.
And on this Memorial weekend consider a few
American heroes. Abraham Lincoln entered the Blackhawk War as a
captain and left as a private. He suffered two business
failures, a nervous breakdown, and was defeated in nine
electoral races before being elected president of the United
States.
Franklin D. Roosevelt was crippled by polio.
General Douglas MacArthur applied for admissions to the military
academy at West Point and was turned down twice before finally
being accepted.
Maybe the hardship you're currently experiencing
has destroyed your hopes for the future. Or it could be you've
gotten used to calling yourself "average," or "nothing special."
It's crucial for you to remember that God sees you as a victor.
To think otherwise is to believe a lie. And it's essential for
you to realize that suffering is a part of life that can't be
avoided. But it's also a part of life God uses to build Mighty
Men of God.
As each of us clings to the belief that our God
will use hardship to make us warriors we will become an army of
men locking arms prepared for battle. Together, revival will
come. And I'm convinced it will come one man one day at a time.
I want to be that man. And I hope you do to.
